As the cloud environment matures, the issue of data SLA becomes more and more critical . IaaS vendors offer different kinds of solution to this problem – relational databases, shared storage or the different NOSQL solution .

Running a relational database in the cloud is a tricky business. Availability, elastic scalability – none of them come out of the box. Many companies face with two poor options – install their own database and handle all configuration by themselves (which, to be frank, is not very cloud-like), or take whatever option the IaaS vendor give them, and settle for low availability and only scale-up scalability .
In this lecture we will talk about the available database options in the cloud, and how ScaleBase solution solves these issues in a transparent way.
